Project Title: Ubuntu Philosophy in Healthcare Leadership: Exploring Trust-Building Approaches in Nottinghamshire Healthcare
What were you doing (e.g. type of work/study) before your PhD/Placement?
I am working as a registered adult nurse, with 10 years of experience from Botswana (back home). Came to United Kingdom as an international nurse in 2023 and still actively working at City hospital. Sometimes I do cross campus work- Queens medical centre.

Ubuntu Philosophy in Healthcare Leadership: Exploring Trust-Building Approaches in Nottinghamshire Healthcare.
What motivated you to apply for this specific Placement project?
I applied for this project as the Ubuntu philosophy resonates with my African roots (African philosophy) and served in the Botswana ministry health which upholds this philosophy as one of its core values. I believe I can tell the story of Ubuntu philosophy from experience, having seen the positivities it has brought in our communities like bringing unity, collective decision making, respect, sharing and interdependence. This has been part of my upbringing and carried me through my professional years of nursing career.
Why do you think this research is important?
This research is important considering the crisis our healthcare service is facing of many legal battles (our service users using the organisation), corridors cares being broadcast in the media and other negativities faced by the organisation. This serves as a positive response to actively address our issues and improve service.
What difference do you hope to make in Nottingham/Nottinghamshire through this research?
The difference I hope to make is help is in rebranding our organisation image. Help in restoring trust of patients-healthcare user trust through the Ubuntu project. Work collectively in improving our delivery service.
What do you hope to be doing in five years’ time? (personally and/or professionally)
I hope to have completed my master’s and hopefully pursue my PhD afterwards. I am currently doing applications: aiming for September 2026 intake, if not to do March 2027 intake.
